(e.g. sight distance, turn path analysis, aquaplaning, lane widening etc)

We understand the importance and prioritize road user safety and risk management. Our team of road design engineers are also accredited Road Safety Auditors who can provide valuable road safety engineering input during the design development stage. Our road designs apply the ‘So Far As Is Reasonably Practicable’ (SFAIRP) approach (WHS Act) and implement the hierarchy of control measures, if it is not reasonably practicable to eliminate risks to road user safety.

Our team have extensive, proven experience collaborating and delivering directly with construction contractors during the construction phase of a project to ensure road user and worker safety, traffic network efficiency and construction program are all considered. We aim to provide a safe, balanced solution is achieved.

Our team of road design engineers bring a diverse array of engineering expertise ranging from road safety engineering, road design, traffic engineering and construction, allowing the design team to assess projects from a variety of perspectives.

We identify opportunities to minimize impacts to road users, minimize construction programs and changes to temporary traffic staging arrangements with the intention of delivering new works to the community as soon as possible.

Our dedicated efforts and meticulous planning guarantee a seamless construction process, minimizing disruptions and optimizing efficiency for successful project completion.

Ultimately, the key function of a road is to cater for the performance characteristics of its users (motorized or otherwise). This includes traffic operational efficiency, road user safety, overall project costs, future maintenance costs and community and environmental impacts. We understand and embrace our role as key influencers when providing design solutions to achieve performance-based design objectives.

SEE MORE DETAILSOur tender ready, experienced team of road design engineers understand the importance of rapid and accurate road design development during the tender stage of a project. Our expert understanding of road design guidelines and standards allows us to immediately and accurately inform our clients of road design and construction feasibility associated with specific road design options.
We pride ourselves on our ability to identify constructability issues early and provide design options and solutions which aim to minimize construction program and overall project costs, whilst simultaneously minimizing disruption to existing traffic network flow and connectivity.
Our services during the tender stage include active road design engineering input during tender design development, 3d road design optioneering and analysis, 3d models which can be distributed to all project stakeholders for information and proofing, road design quantities, road design reports and detailed road design stage pricing.
Our road design engineers have been involved numerous successful tender bids including but not limited to; M7M12 Integration Project (TTM Design), Narrabri to Moree (N2M) (TTM Design), Sydney Gateway and West Connex Rozelle Interchange (Temporary Works Designer).
Design is the process of originating and developing a plan for an aesthetic and/or functional object requiring research, thought, modelling, iterative adjustment, and redesign. Road design is the process of selecting and combining appropriate elements that will develop a fit-for-purpose solution. It is an iterative process that requires a designer to exercise their judgement and experience whilst also practically applying accepted technical guidelines and continually evaluating the design to assist in the selection of the appropriate values for the design elements.
We understand every road project is unique and can never be precisely repeated. There are no ‘off the shelf’ solutions that will fully address all situations encountered, and the rigid and unthinking application of charts, tables and figures is unlikely to lead to a successful design outcome. Our road design engineers understand high quality design requires creative input based on experience and a sound understanding of road design engineering principles to develop a solution which ensure project objectives and expectations are achieved.
Road designs should incorporate the Safe System approach which ensures all road users’ needs are considered in all aspects of the road design process. The objectives of new and existing road projects should be carefully considered to achieve the safest possible road while balancing the level of traffic service provided, whole-of-life costs, flexibility for future upgrading or rehabilitation, and environmental impacts.
These objectives should address areas including:
A road design is concluded with the production of a 3D CAD model, design drawings, a design report, quantities, and specifications to ensure the design is approved and fit for purpose, ultimately facilitating the road to be constructed and used by the community.
Our road design engineers have been involved numerous successful strategic, concept and detailed road designs including but not limited to; Milton to Ulladulla Bypass (Strategic Design), Nelligen Bride Realignment (Concept Design) and the Pacific Highway Upgrade (Woolgoolga to Ballina – Portion B) (Detailed Design).
A Traffic Management design is the organization, arrangement, guidance, and control of both stationary and moving traffic, including pedestrians, cyclists, and all types of vehicles, around a hazard or work site for the safety of both road workers and road users.
The objective of a Traffic Management design is to minimize impacts to the existing road network during construction activities and most importantly identify and eliminate or manage road user and construction worker safety during this time.
A Traffic Management design is developed in accordance with, Austroads Guidelines and Austroads Supplement, Traffic Control at Work Sites Manual, Australian Standards, and applicable government specifications (e.g. TfNSW G10 Traffic Management Specification).
