ROAD DESIGNER / CIVIL ENGINEERING 

Position Description – Senior Road Designer

The Opportunity 

Due to a strong pipeline of transport infrastructure projects, D-TAL requires the services of a motivated, high performing Road Designer/Civil Engineer to continue to grow our expanding design team. The full-time role is within an industry leading road design team, a rare opportunity to learn from some of Australia’s most proficient and respected road designers.  

Main Responsibilities 

  • Prepare strategic, conceptual, and detailed road design models using OpenRoads Designer, in accordance with Austroads Guide to Road Design Guidelines.  
  • Read, analyse and interpret engineering drawings and communicate design intent concisely.   
  • Prepare design reports, technical engineering calculations and checks.   

 

Our ideal candidate 

  • Minimum 5 years’ road design experience working on Australian road design projects (TfNSW projects preferred).   
  • Proficient in OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD (preferred) and Auto Turn (preferred). On the job training will be provided.   
  • Ability to communicate clearly and purposefully with direct manager and wider D-TAL team.   
  • Proficient understanding of Austroads Guide to Road Design and TfNSW Traffic Control at Worksites Manual.    
  • Formal qualification – Civil Engineering Degree or similar.   
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook, OneDrive and PowerPoint.   
  • Clear understanding and demonstrated ability to apply TfNSW CAD manual standards.   
  • Proficient in ProjectWise (preferred).   
  • Strong ability to read, analyse and interpret engineering drawings such as plans, details and ability to communicate design intent concisely.   
  • Initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
